Jonathan Allardyce

Whilst browsing through some illustrators i found this guy and his style is something that i just love doing; getting a photo and redoing it as a vector. The reason i love this is because of my great love for cartoons and being able to transform a life photo into a life cartoon is something special in my eyes and not only that when creating these type of visual you notice details that you wouldnt notice in a picture and therefor its a treat for the creator and viewer.

By him choosing a photo and transforming it into vector you can have endless creative possibilities and an good example is the statue of liberty drinking tea. Jonathon's style seems to be vectors of people but the quality of them are exceptional, the highlights and shadows create that 3d look. Above of a few examples of his work and the life like nature of them gives it a more real look and its not just cartoon, you get the amazing shape of the realism whilst having the solid colours of the cartoon (no gradients).

These images below are my favourite because i feel it has the most unusual beauty about them and also the colours are fantastic to look at. The long posh looking taxi is great as its something you wouldnt see in real life but by doing it this way anything is possible, the lady has amazing detail which you seems to focus on more especially using a greyscale colouring system then maximising the dress by using a strong red.

When seeing these i thought Jonathon used illustrator to creates these but it turns out that he draws t his images using a touch sensitive display and then colours them in photoshop, his drawing skills are incredible and i wouldnt be able to recreate this kind of realism whilst drawing but i can do this using illustrator.
This style for Amsterdam is fantastic as its as real but it has that edge on it which i feel Amsterdam has over other cities especially when part of this style is being more colourful by using solid colours.
